What happened to the new Walgreen's and Starbuck's on 111th and Kedzie?

What's the hold up? It has been how long and they are promising when? Speaking of redevelopment, where's the new playground? All urban myths?
Yeah, I've been wondering
Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. I've checked into it but have heard very little.
Construction is scheduled to begin on the 50,000-square-foot playlot in the spring with a target completion date of June. You can check out drawings of what the park is going to look like at www.mountgreenwoodpark.com.
The playlot is expected to have a new spray feature and rock climbing wall and a sway fun swing.
The project also includes six new lights, picnic tables, benches and new shade trees.
Sounds nice but will it
Sounds nice but will it actually happen? How long have we been waiting on the 111th and Kedzie development? I don't think we will see either project in my lifetime.

I've got a couple calls in to Ald. Rugai's office, but I've heard nothing but silence. I've also called the developer - Douglas Bean, vice president of Skokie-based Terraco, Inc. Give the company a call at (847) 679-6660. I'm sure they'd love to hear from local residents curious about the project hold up.
The walgreens is just
The walgreens is just convenient to get bathroom supplies and other small items, i don't think you'd want to fill any prescriptions there if you can wait a little bit and order from a canadian pharmacy you'll save so much i fill my grandfathers and uncles meds using one just because they are so expensive and they would never be able to afford it otherwise

According to the Mt Greenwood Local Redevelopment Corp newsletter,Terraco is no longer doing this project. Their contract expired.Something about a screw up with purchasing the alley behind the property from the City. Terraco's fault or Mt Greenwood Local Redevelopment Corp? If it has not been put together in 8 years,why are the same people in charge? The playlot won't be torn down until Spring of 08 when the build begins. I hear the 19th ward office does not want it torn down in case of delays like at Hurley Park. I say tear it down now.
