Fewer police this holiday season?
» Read similar stories filed under:Is it true that the 22nd District will have half a dozen fewer sergeants supervising the neighborhoods this holiday season?
A neighbor tipped us off the other day that the Chicago Police Department may be transferring six sergeants from the 22nd District to two other districts.
Red's
» Read similar stories filed under:Does anyone have any pictures of Red's. I have been looking all over for justa photo and no one has one. I cannot count the number of times we ate ther but never thought of taking a picture of the sign or the outside. I would so appreciate if someone could post one. Thanks
Cicada spotting
» Read similar stories filed under:There it was, right in front of me on the sidewalk, stopped just short of a nearby lawn.

What's your Snackville Junction?
» Read similar stories filed under:In the wake of its closing after 60 years, this neighborhood icon is gone forever but leaves quite a legacy. While it was a unique piece of Morgan Park history for 39 years, there are other reminders of my own childhood, signatures of Mount Greenwood, Beverly and Morgan Park. I drive past Kennedy Park and remember my first tee ball game. I remember getting toys from the vending machine at Reds (now a parking lot, I think). And of course I remember sitting at the counter at the old Snackville Junction on Western.
