The perfect spring break treat for a young arts lover, and a great introduction to the fine arts for students who want learn more about what our School of the Arts has to offer! This special interdisciplinary four-day arts intensive offers participants a chance to experience each of our four fine arts departments: Music, Dance, Drama, and Visual Arts. This camp will culminate in a showcase for family and friends where the students will demonstrate just how much can be learned in only four fantastic days. Students should bring a lunch to each day of camp.

Day Camp/Interdisciplinary (Ages 5-12)

The perfect camp for the young artist! Each week students take classes in Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, Music, Ceramics, Computer Arts, and more! With weekly special events and workshops with special guest artists, our students are never bored! Every two weeks a new camp begins — take just one or two or join us for the whole summer. (see our information packet for details about the special events, projects, and instructors for each session!)

Our arts-based preschool program continues through the summer with fun themes such as Up, up and away, Day Dreaming, and My Story. Children explore their world through painting, acting, yoga, dancing, singing, and making music. Must be potty trained. (Min 6, Max 18)

Kindermusik Adventure Camp: Creatures in My Backyard 6/20-7/25 (no class 7/4)
$85 ($77) 18mo- 5 years with parent/caregiver Fridays, 9:30-10:30am Bonnie Kats
Adults join their students in class for the full hour.
Give your child something to talk about—or sing about—in their own backyard. Through music and movement activities created just for your toddler, we’ll learn all about the animals you see every day: woodpeckers, caterpillars, ladybugs, flowers, rabbits, and more! Take-home materials: Home CD, plush bunny hand puppet, and picture folders featuring the animals in the activities. Materials Fee: $35. (Min 6, Max 12)

Make Believe Mini-Camp

Your bouncing ball of energy will explore wild characters and unique situations during this early theater class in guided creative play. Children can build physical and vocal confidence while enjoying play-time with others their own age! During our Summer session, lots of music will be used to spark the imagination as we explore crazy characters and exiting environments through singing, dancing, and great storytelling adventures!

This class will explore different themes and create original works of art in each class. Students will be exposed to a variety of art-making tools. If you love art and want to learn more about painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, and clay, then you are in for a summer of art making fun!

2D-3D Camp Ages 5-6, 7-9

If you love crafts, drawing, painting, clay and more then this is the class for you! This class will give students the opportunity to create paintings, drawings and craft projects on Tuesdays, and Ceramics on Thursdays for a variety of experiences in a fun and friendly environment. Ceramics work will be fired. A great companion class to our M/W/F Playmakers Drama camps!

This class will give students the opportunity to immerse themselves into the world of art. Students will have two hours each day to learn about art and different art making techniques. Each day they will be creating their own masterpieces!

Master the ceramics wheel this summer! Students will learn the basics to create various forms with the wheel. This fun yet intensive class will allow students to create a variety of functional objects while experimenting with and building wheel throwing skills. Work will be fired and glazed. Fee includes clay & firing. (Maximum 6 students)

Our summer music intensives meet three days a week for five weeks to give campers enough time to explore a budding interest in vocal or instrumental music and master the basics of his or her instrument of choice. Choose from one of the following:

Students will improve self-confidence, develop greater physical awareness and vocal communication skills, and exercise their creative muscles as they adapt popular stories for the stage. Each session will explore characters and stories from a different point of view, culminating in a performance for family and friends. A great companion class to our TU/TH 2D/3D Visual Arts camp!

Our professional-level theater training program is back! This year’s production, The Wiz, will feature spectacular sets and costumes designed and constructed by our on-site internship program. Register early—audition slots are already going fast! Performances are in our 400-seat Main Stage theater.
Camp Fee: $375 ($338—schedule an audition before May 1st to qualify for early-bird pricing if accepted)

Each summer our Teen Thespians program produces a show for Young Audiences. This summer’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory gives teens a taste of what it’s like to be a professional performer as they entertain student groups from across the city. Our stunning sets and costumes are created by our teen internship program.
Participation Fee: $125 ($113—auditions scheduled before May 1st qualify for early-bird pricing if accepted)

Teen Summer Arts Intensives Ages 13-19
These five-week intensives meet three hours a day for five days a week to truly immerse the student in the details of their craft. Request an information packet for more details/instructor bios!

Summer Internships
Each summer the BAC offers a limited number of both paid and unpaid internships for students age 16 to 21. Applicant must be a resident of the City of Chicago to qualify for a paid position. Email emily@beverlyartcenter.org with the subject line “Internship Information” to receive more information and an application form. Internships offered: Arts Education, Directing, Stage Management, Costuming, Stagecraft, Lighting Design, Arts Administration, and Graphic Design and Publicity.
