The perfect spring break treat for a young arts lover, and a great introduction to the fine arts for students who want learn more about what our School of the Arts has to offer! This special interdisciplinary four-day arts intensive offers participants a chance to experience each of our four fine arts departments: Music, Dance, Drama, and Visual Arts. This camp will culminate in a showcase for family and friends where the students will demonstrate just how much can be learned in only four fantastic days. Students should bring a lunch to each day of camp.

Our arts-based preschool program continues through the summer with fun themes such as Up, up and away, Day Dreaming, and My Story. Children explore their world through painting, acting, yoga, dancing, singing, and making music. Must be potty trained. (Min 6, Max 18)
Kindermusik Adventure Camp: Creatures in My Backyard 6/20-7/25 (no class 7/4)

Adults join their students in class for the full hour.
Give your child something to talk about—or sing about—in their own backyard. Through music and movement activities created just for your toddler, we’ll learn all about the animals you see every day: woodpeckers, caterpillars, ladybugs, flowers, rabbits, and more! Your bouncing ball of energy will explore wild characters and unique situations during this early theater class in guided creative play. Children can build physical and vocal confidence while enjoying play-time with others their own age! During our Summer session, lots of music will be used to spark the imagination as we explore crazy characters and exiting environments through singing, dancing, and great storytelling adventures!

Master the ceramics wheel this summer! Students will learn the basics to create various forms with the wheel. This fun yet intensive class will allow students to create a variety of functional objects while experimenting with and building wheel throwing skills. Work will be fired and glazed. Our professional-level theater training program is back! This year’s production, The Wiz, will feature spectacular sets and costumes designed and constructed by our on-site internship program. Register early—audition slots are already going fast! Performances are in our 400-seat Main Stage theater.

Each summer our Teen Thespians program produces a show for Young Audiences. This summer’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory gives teens a taste of what it’s like to be a professional performer as they entertain student groups from across the city. Our stunning sets and costumes are created by our teen internship program.

Each summer the BAC offers a limited number of both paid and unpaid internships for students age 16 to 21. Applicant must be a resident of the City of Chicago to qualify for a paid position.
