Playlot construction to begin

Categorized under:

Construction fencing is up at the Mount Greenwood Park playlot, and demolition began Thursday.

Pictures of the construction process will be posted on the park's Web site at www.mountgreenwoodpark.com.

A big thank you to all those who have donated and have helped make this a reality. We can't wait until the new playlot is finished.

In other playlot project news, on March 26th the group will be unveiling the seven designs for the mosaic totems at a community meeting at the park. Come
out to see if your design has been included, or to just see what all the excitement is about.

The group also will be working on creating the mosaics that will be going into the new
playlot in April and May.

We hope to see you at the meeting and we look forward to seeing you play in the new park once it's completed!

Happy Spring!

I ride the Metra-Rock Island

I ride the Metra-Rock Island train everyday and it is terrible. The station closes at 1:00 P.M. everyday and is not even open on weekends. Sometimes i work late shift and get back to 111th St. station at 10:15P.M. There is no secure area around. And in winter with the station closed you freeze. And the elderly & people with small kids? If you had to use the washroom you would have to go to the 22nd District police station. And the eyesore of the old Coffee Depot? Metra wants to make it a parking lot. Fine and dandy. But what about a 24hr Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. That way the kids around ther could get a job and learn about respecting others. Metra could still have their parking lot and the donut shop could be built on the empty lot next to it.
