FREE Jazz in the Courtyard at the Beverly Arts Center on Chicago's south side EVERY Monday. Every Monday, 7-9pm, throughout the summer, FREE JAZZ in the Courtyard, performed by the Pat Noland Group. The Pat Noland Group featuring Patrick Noland (piano and guitar), Pete Vancura (bass) and Rusty Jones (drums) plays jazz every Monday beginning June 25 in the courtyard. Chicaco folklorist and ghosthunter Richard Crowe and the Ridge Historical Society (RHS)are hosting "Supernatural Pub Crawl" Friday, Sept. 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. This will be a private tour of four of Chicago's famous taverns, known for their spirits - and we don't mean the kind you drink! The taverns selected will represent different locations in the city and different aspects of Chicago's history. | ||

Program by L. Patrick Stanton, community activist and author of "Beverly Now," the 1971 plan that addressed integration and stabilization and is credited with keeping the Beverly/Morgan Park community together. The program will be held at Ridge Historical Society, 10621 S. Seeley Avenue, and will also showcase "Students of History" - the current exhibit featuring the work of Chicago Metro History Fair participants from local schools. | ||

The Mount Greenwood Park Advisory Council has announced that the state-of-the-art destination playground is complete. Residents, civic leaders and corporations came together to raise funds for a safe and fun space in the community for children of all abilities. The grand opening celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20, and all neighbors are welcome all to attend. Come enjoy live music, free food, games and the many fantastic features this playground offers. Start: 11:00 am

The Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., was selected by the Chicago Public Library to participate in “One Book, One Chicago,” and will have a screening of “The Right Stuff” based on the fall 2008 book selection by Tom Wolfe. The BAC will screen the film on Wed., Oct. 8, at 6:30 p.m. for the general public (admission is $7 or $3 for persons showing a library card). The screening will include a presentation by guest speaker Bill Savage, PhD, senior lecturer, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, Northwestern University. | ||
