Chicaco folklorist and ghosthunter Richard Crowe returns to the Ridge Historical Society this summer and fall for more fun-time programs on the supernatural right here in Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park. This year's programs will include:
"Ghosts I Have Met" - Friday, July 25, 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m. A lecture and slide show, followed by refreshments and a chance for one-on-one conversation with Crowe. This program will feature his personal experiences around the world, delving into real encounters with the various types of haunting he has experienced, from apparitions to cold spots, psychic scents, and more. The event will be held at the Mt. Greenwood Cemetery Chapel, 2900 W. 111th St. The cost is $25 for RHS members and $30 for non-members.
"Haunted Pub Crawl" - Friday, Sept. 12, 6:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m., private tour of four of Chicago's famous taverns, known for their spirits. The taverns selected will represent different locations in the city, and different aspects of Chicago's history. The bus will leave from RHS. The cost is $50 for RHS members and $60 for non-members. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be included on the bus. Beverages and food in the pubs are at your own cost, and alcohol is not permitted on the bus. Children are not allowed on this tour.
"Generation X Ghosts - The Newest Hauntings in Chicago" - Monday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Lecture and slide show, followed by refreshments and conversation with Crowe. Just in time for Halloween, this program will be the GRAND PREMIERE of Crowe's newest program, exploring the latest generation of ghosts in Chicago: newly discovered sights and spirits. The event will be held at the Mt. Greenwood Cemetery chapel, 2900 W. 111th St. The cost is $35 for RHS members and $45 for non-members.

Richard Crowe is Chicago's first and most famous full-time, professional ghosthunter. A native South Sider, he honed his interest in ghost stories while a student at Quigley South, where his Latin professor was Fr. John J. Nicola, an advisor on the original film, "The Exorcist."
Holding a BA and MA in English Literature from DePaul University, Crowe used his love for folklore and ghost stories to conduct the first Chicago ghost tour in 1973. He now offers bus tours, walking tours, boat cruises, lectures, theme parties, travel programs and TV and movie consultation on the supernatural. His book, "Chicago's Streetguide to the Supernatural," is a local bestseller in multiple printings.
